Caramel Frappacino… Light?
The Grande Caramel Frappacino. Creamy, sweet, and just enough kick to finish off the work day at noon. This is what happens when you have lunch with a co-worker… As I order my Caramel Frap, I remark how I shouldn’t be drinking this. The cashier kindly suggests a Light Frappacino. Light Frap? Oxymoron, I say. But she insists that it tastes just as good and has less than half the calories. So I tried it. Verdict? You can tell it’s been dietized, but it’s still pretty good.
Of course, as soon as I get home I verify this info at the nutritional information part of Starbucks.com:
Regular Grande Caramel Frap* - 280 calories, 3.5 grams of fat.
Light Grande Caramel Frap* - 180 calories, 1.5 grams of fat.
Not quite half the calories, but considering the regular frap comes with whipped cream by default, and the light does not, I guess that’s a fair assessment. Well, I’m definitely not getting the whipped cream ever again! And if it’s not for some sort of personal reward, I’ll be sticking to the Light Frappacinos when I have a willpower deficit.
* both without whipped cream. Adding whipped cream adds 150 calories and 12.5 grams of fat!! It’s good, but not that good.
