I Love Snowboarding

My triceps are sore, my quads are sore, the muscles on top of my shins are sore, but I’m still grinning! I love snowboarding, it’s like exercise but you don’t even realize it because you’re having so much fun. If you have never snowboarded or skied before, I definitely recommend doing skiing first. My wife snowboarded for the first time last time we went, and hated it. Spent most of the time on her tush.

She tried skiing for the first time yesterday, and was turning AND making it down the hill without falling at all by the end of the day! It helped that she knew how to roller skate, I think. If only the mountain was closer, I would have no problem doing this 4 times a week. Crisp outdoor moutain air, great scenery, a lift to bring you up the mountain, who could ask for more?

Sunday 11/20 Weigh-In: 210 lbs.

As expected, Thanksgiving was not kind to my waistline. But there will be no family visiting for Christmas, so I get a chance to get back on track. It is almost January 1st, the Day For Deluding Yourself. I hate resolutions. Getting healthy has been a battle I’ve been losing, mostly due to inactivity and making it a low priority in life. Even writing about it is boring. I guess other people feel the same way about money. I need a swift kick in the pants!

Sunday 11/20 Weigh-In: 206 lbs.

This week is going to be a food-fest, I can tell you that. Last week was pretty blah, probably burned off some calories cleaning out the house so the parents don’t think we’re living in filth. My prediction for next Sunday: 210 lb. Honey-glazed spiral ham, you will be the end of me! ;P

Free Weight Loss Excel Templates

Here are some useful free Microsoft Excel templates for monitoring your health:

» Daily log of calories and fat percentage - Not terribly useful, as you’ll need to find your own data from the USDA Food Database, but it does help you get more organized.

» Fitness chart for men and women - Input your stats, and this sheet will help calculate your estimated lean body weight, estimated body fat percentage, BMI, and more. Pretty cool!

Sunday 11/13 Weigh-In: 205 lbs.

(Let’s pretend it’s Sunday) Well, I didn’t go to the pool. Is it bad that the only reason I feel guilty is that I said I wanted to in this blog? Hmm… I lost a pound anyways, and I think it’s really due to me running around campus. Although there is a McDonald’s right by campus that I have to walk in front of to get to class every day. I never usually eat McD’s but I swear they have some sort of brainwave devices that makes me crave their fries and soft-serve sundaes. Evil!

Sunday 10/30 Weigh-In: 206 lbs.

Hmmm… I wonder where those 4 lbs went. At least I got rid of most of the leftover candy in the house to trick-or-treaters. I will use the indoor pool this week. I will use the indoor pool this week. I will use the indoor pool this week.

Sunday 10/23 Weigh-In: 206 lbs.

206! My new low! Considering my exercise regimen currently consists of running from class to student activites to office hours and back to class, that’s not too bad. I still haven’t used my newly purchased gym membership… I guess it didn’t cost enough to make me not want to waste the money? Bah. More midterms this week, so the outlook for gym activity looks bleak.

Sunday 10/16 Weigh-In: 209 lbs.

I did weigh myself on Sunday, and stayed at 209 lbs. I went to the university rec center and signed myself up for their gym with indoor pool. It was a great deal at $25 per term, and I get a tiny little locker. I could have paid more for a bigger one, but we’ll see. The pool is pretty small, only 6 lanes and 25 yards long, but it wasn’t too crowded when I went by so that’s good. I’m glad it’s indoors and heated too. Now to find my swim shorts and goggles…

Sunday 10/9 Weigh-In: 209 lbs.

(Okay, it’s Monday, so sue me.) I’ve been running around so much this week, I think I skipped a few meals. Maybe that’s how I lost a pound? ‘Cause I definitely didn’t do any gym stuff! I am going to sign up at gym this week, and set up a minimum lap swim schedule that is so easy that even I can follow. Really!

Sunday 10/2 Weigh-In: 210 lbs.

Still at the big 2-1-0. I’ve quit my old gym, and need to sign up at my University rec center, which is free (well, included in tuition), and also has a pool for lap swim. By next week I hope to have a routine down where I can exercise after a class, shower, and then go home so I don’t have to make an extra trip just to go work out.
